Here's how: Click on the link (at right) to the mobile phone network you're sending a message to. The free service will open in a new window.

Keep this window open. Below U will find simple instructions 2 guide you through sending your free SMS message to a friend or loved one, in Uganda or abroad!

To MTN & Mango networks**

STEP 1: In the phone number area, type in the 6 digit mobile phone number of the person you are sending the message to.

=>	Do NOT add "077" or "075."
=>	Do NOT delete the 25671 or the 25677 that is already entered.

For example:
to send to 071/222222, just type 222222.

STEP 2: Type your message in the Message Field, it should be less than 140 characters. Don't forget to include your name so they know it's from you!

=> TIP: The counter will show how many characters you have used. Each letter, punctuation mark or space counts as a character, so do abbreviate.

STEP 3: tick "to phone's Inbox" (077 only). Click Send.

Your message is on it's way!

SMS to the UK

CardBoardFish offers free SMS to all mobile networks in the UK. It works almost the same way as the Ugandan services described above, except for a few small but important details:

=>	After the "44" that is already entered, you need to type the complete mobile phone number, including the prefix. Remove all ZEROs from the beginning of the number.
=>	After you click send, you are NOT yet finished! You still have two more pages to click through, to confirm sending your message.

At sendSMSnow, it's FREE to send messages from the Internet to mobile phones in the countries listed below:

STEP 1: To get started using the sendSMSnow service, you need to register first. You will only need to do this one time. At left on the main page, click on "Register."

STEP 2: You will need the following information to fill out the registration form.

Username

This is a nickname U choose 4 yourself

First Name

This is the name people call U

Last Name

This is your other family name

Email

enter your email address correctly!

Password

Make this a word U can easily remember without writing it down. As you type it in here, you will see dots appear instead of the letters. So be careful with spelling.

Confirm
Password

RE-TYPE your password exactly as in the space above. You MUST type your password with the same spelling each time you use it.

Country

Click on the small downward arrow to the right of "select country." Choose Uganda from the list that pops up.

=>	Un-tick the box where it says "Yes, send me offers by email"
=>	Tick the box where it says "I agree to abide by the terms."
=>	Review your info 2 be sure all is correct.
=>	Click Submit

You should receive an email right away with your confirmed username and password. You'll have to have these each time you log in, so it's a good idea to either save that email (recommended) or print the confirmation page for future reference.

STEP 3: If you just registered, then you are already logged in. Take some time to browse through your account menu on the left.

=> TIP: For your convenience, you can store your international phone numbers by clicking on My phonebook. They will still be there the next time you log in. Click Add name to make it even easier to find friends you SMS with regularly. A list of the names you've added will appear when you log in. When you select a name, their phone number will fill into the form with one click.

STEP 4: To write a message, click on "My home."

=>	Select the country code by clicking on the small downward arrow next to "get country code." sendSMSnow only works to the countries on that list.
=>	Type in the complete mobile phone number, without any zero's at the beginning.
=>	type your name as you want it to appear in your message.
=>	type your message, less than 130 characters. You don't have to include your name, since you already included it in the space above.

STEP 5:

=>	Click Send and wait for the next window.
=>	After reviewing your message, click "send" again or click "edit" to make changes.
=>	In the last window, you will receive a message that says "your message has been processed." Now you are finished.
